For us to succeed, we need, only 4 things. Implementing these 4 things is where the challenge comes in.

  1. The first thing we need is Commitment. Now, I am talking about genuine commitment here. There is a story I love that relates to a bacon and egg breakfast. It is a simple question, “Are you the bacon or the eggs in your business?”. How is this relevant? Well, the chicken is simply an interested party in the breakfast as it supplied the egg, however, the pig was committed as it gave it’s life. Now are you really committed to what you are doing?
Commitment involves making a decision to do something. The unfortunate thing is that we have not been told how to make effective decisions. Making a decision is a two part process. We all are very good at the first part, which is actually making the decision. The second part of any decision is to burn all other options! Now you are committed!
  2. The second thing you need is Consistency. Consistency involves taking action on a daily basis that will allow you to fullfil your commitments. Consistency is also about integrity. This is where you actually do what you say you are going to do. Consistently exceed expectations and everything will fall into place.
  3. The third ingredient to success is Co-operation. We cannot do it all on our own! In order to succeed we need the help of others and that is why we network and build relationships. Our networks allow us to reach more people through the co-operation of others. And, through the co-operation of our existing customers we get referrals so that we can help more people. If you are trying to do everything by yourself, you are doing it hard!
  4. The last thing we need is Contribution. Contribution allows you to help others connect with people they need to meet. Contribution allows you to assist people who need your co-operation. This is what provides momentum to your networking efforts. Are you a network contributor or a network plunderer?

You cannot be truly successful unless you are doing all four of these! It is not enough to be really good at 3 and leave one off. They are all interrelated and each item should be given equal attention.

The challenge is for you to now adopt this and enjoy the success that follows.
