As you work to narrow down the list of possible career paths for you to take in life, it’s always a good idea to take a look at employment trends. Picking a career that is on the rise and in-demand is usually a smart decision and will help ensure that you find a job out of school. When it comes to degrees that are currently in demand, not just here at home in the United States, but also globally, the online finance master’s degree is very high on the list.

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), jobs such as financial examiners and financial analysts are both on the rise and both have a median wage of around $80,000. What this means for you is that there has never been a better time to attend a school such as Northeastern University and get your online master of science in finance.

So what kind of job can you expect to land with your online master in finance? Let’s take a closer look at the jobs with the highest project growth according to the BLS.

Financial Advisor

It seems as though financial advisor positions will be the ones with the highest projected growth coming in at 27%. What this means is that your odds of finding employment in this role are extremely high, especially with your degree under your belt.

As a financial advisor it will be up to you to help clients take a look at their finances, figure out how to invest their money, and reach their financial goals. They may be saving for their child’s college/university fund, retirement, a vacation home, etc.

Actuary

Falling just behind the growth of financial advisors is the position of an actuary, which is expected to grow by 26% between now and the year 2022. Again, this is a very sound path to take and will almost certainly result in quick employment out of school.

Actuaries are all about finding ways that they can manage risks. In order to excel in this job, you’ll need to have a firm grasp on human behavior, sound business knowledge, and have excellent analytical skills. It’s not your typical “finance” job and you will deal with companies and individuals.

Management Analyst

The world of management analysts will be looking forward to a 19% growth over the next five years, which is also a very impressive number. This particular job can also be called a management consultant. In this role it will be up to you to advise managers and companies on how to be more profitable. You’ll need to analyze ways they can increase revenues through reducing their costs.

A Very Bright Future

This is just a small look at the many jobs that are in-demand and require a finance degree. It seems the sky is the limit right now in this industry, which means it’s an excellent time to be a finance student or recent graduate of the program.
