Dodgy SEO ‘Experts’, ‘Social Marketing’ services on Fiverr and Ripped off Businesses

My advice to small business owners is to first read our article on SEO which tells you how to do SEO yourself, follow the steps and you will end up doing a better job than most ‘experts’.

Its not hard to rip off a small business owner for SEO services.

I have talked about this before but I will mention it again as I am starting to find all sorts of dodgy SEO ‘experts’ out there. Its like all the failed web designers rebranded themselves as SEO ‘experts’ to make a buck. Even the media sites are finding their own fodder ‘Regulator chases party boy’s Publicity Monster

Anyone slightly techie can become a SEO ‘expert’. All you need to do is go over to the ‘social marketing’ section of Fiverr.com select a few $5 offerings that promise to expose your brand to their mega followers and show the screen dumps from the Fiverr services to your client as proof that your brand is on social media.

Of course any techie with a moderate understanding of IT sweat shops in India, Malaysia and the Philippines and automated tools to create fake accounts on Facebook and Twitter will know that most of the Facebook and Twitter accounts contain bogus (fake) users. The link building services are also BS as most of the sites the links are submitted to are blacklisted by Google.

So, as an SEO ‘expert’, I can charge you $990.00 USD upfront costs and a monthly plan of $90 USD to get your business online while spending, at the most, $15 USD on Fiverr per month. If I am feeling particularly generous I will head over to Elance.com hire a couple of third world ‘slaves’ that charge about $2 USD per hour and get them to write reviews about your business on other sites for about $50 USD.

Of course this is all crap and will more than likely penalised the small business owners website but what I will say putting on my SEO ‘experts’ hat is that – ‘look! this takes time! If you want faster results pay me more!‘.

If you still need help never – ever signup to a business that promises you first page rankings – it is complete BS.
